The Air and Water Centre recommends the use of this evaporative cooler in bedrooms, living rooms and small rooms.
The WF-360 evaporative cooler converts warm air into a cool refreshing breeze by sucking air into the unit and then blowing it back into the room through a moistened filter. It works on the principal of evaporative cooling, whereby when water evaporates in air, the air is cooled by the water's lower temperature.
This unit can be used as an air cooler, fan, humidifier and ioniser.
An ioniser function can be used to replace negative ions in the air that have been destroyed by pollution and electronic equipment. This breakdown of negative ions in the air makes the air feel stale and stuffy. By generating the negative ions again the air feels noticeably clean and fresh, and reduces odours.
Hints for better cooling - For best performance position the cooler in a location that will create a "flow-through" air effect. The greatest cooling effect will be felt if the unit is operated in a partly opened doorway or window with the "cool" air directed into the room. It is also important to have a door or window partly opened away from the air cooler, in order to create a the "flow through" effect. The recommended humidity maximum level is 60% or less, which allows a noticeable temperature decrease. The evaporative cooler is not an air conditioner it does not use a compressor and refrigerant gas. You should not expect an evaporative cooler to work as effectively as refrigerated air conditioning.

Review by John Alderson, posted on 15th July 2010.
The temperature in my stifling office reduced from 31 degrees to 25 with a definitely fresher general atmosphere. I used a mixture of ice and water and topped it up on a daily basis. Life's a bit more bearable now but obviously a long way away from a proper air conditioned set up. As a quick fix, it's OK and better than a static fan which only circulated the hot air!
