This great looking, slim-line wine fridge is ideal for those people who like to have wine to hand at the correct temperature but don't particularly want to buy a large 40 bottle wine fridge. It stores up to six bottles lying down and one bottle upright at the bottom.
As it chills by using Peltier technology instead of a refrigerant compressor it is extremely quiet and very lightweight. This makes it ideal for use in the lounge or dining room.
It has a digital readout on the front showing its current internal temperature and push button controls to set the desired temperature you would like. It has 8 pre-set levels for different types of wine ranging from 7-20°C, with preset 8 being the coolest.
Due to its innovative Peltier cooling technology it only costs as much to run as an 100W lightbulb.
Peltier technology uses two ceramic plates along with an array of small Bismuth Telluride cubes ("couples") in between. When a DC current is applied heat is moved from one side of the device to the other, where it is removed via a heatsink. This produces a cold surface over which a fan blows air, thus providing cooling to an area.
As the unit does not use refrigerant it makes it very environmentally friendly.
This Peltier technology will cool the wine fridge to 13 degrees below the ambient so in a room of 20°C the lowest the unit will go is 7°C. Please note that the unit will have trouble cooling below this level.
