The unit should be fitted to your incoming water supply, usually under the kitchen sink. It treats the water as it enters your house, removing the hard minerals by passing the water through a resin. The minerals - calcium and magnesium ions - are attracted to the resin and removed from the water.
The resin is automatically cleaned (regenerated) by rinsing a small amount of brine through the resin cylinder. The accumulated hard minerals are then automatically flushed away to a nearby drain. Refreshed by regeneration, the resin is again ready to attract and remove hard minerals.
By softening your water supply in this way your skin will feel softer, your hair silkier, limescale will not build-up on your domestic appliances like the shower heads or kettles, towels and clothes will feel fluffy after washing, and your heating system will run much more efficiently.
Domestic appliances will also have a longer life and you won't need to use softening products like Calgon in your washing machine.
Once installed this unit is easy to operate. Simply programme the digital timer once and top up with salt occasionally.
