OUT OF STOCK .

This is our top of the range domestic scale inhibitor for whole house protection. It fits on your 15 or 22mm mains water pipe, as close to the incoming supply as possible, and protects the pipes and appliances within the property from scale build-up as well as breaking down the existing scale that's formed in them. It will also, in the case of steel pipes, minimise rust deposits.

It does all this without the use of chemicals or salt. The Cracker is a unique non-polluting double technology water conditioning system and does not alter the water's mineral composition in anyway. The water still complies with the health regulations laid down by the UK and EU Water Utilities, as well as the World Health Organisation for drinking water.

It uses the latest electronic and electrolytic technologies together. The Cracker works by combining a natural electrolytic process using a zinc alloy anode and an electronic signal derived from a square wave generator. It works without using any permanent magnetic or chemical technical effect on the water – and begins its process immediately after the Cracker has been installed.

The electronic technology works by using a high frequency signal generator (0.5 - 100 kHz) which is applied through a direct connection to the pipe surface. The current induces a ‘field effect’ into the water which imparts energy at a molecular level to the water. As long as the water keeps this energy level, it will hold a greater amount of salts in suspension and will encourage already existing salt deposits to re-dissolve.

The electrolytic technology works by the use of dissimilar metals placed in the flow of water, being electrically connected. In the presence of water (an electrolyte) a ‘LeClanché’ (battery) cell is achieved. The metals develop an emf (voltage) between them. While a small electric charge is placed on the water species, the main benefit is the addition of zinc metal ions in the water, which produces a permanent change to the calcium crystal morphology. Hard salts are encouraged to cling to each other rather than pipework, heating elements in appliances, etc.

As this type of electrolytic water conditioning does not rapidly dissipate, the Cracker can be used to protect water that is to be stored in a tank.

The processes involved in this system are not sensitive to low water flow.

As part of this system uses an electronic charge it does require a power supply but the running costs are minimal - about £3 per year.

∆p=1/2 bar flow: 48l/min (2.88m³/hr)
Length: 255mm
Width & depth: 75mm x 59mm
Weight: 1.5kg
Voltage: 220v 50Hz
Product code: CRACKER
Test regulations: (UK) WRAS Certification 0107038 | (Germany) RWTuV Prufprogramm M30/94 Certificate Nr. 2684/95
Materials used: Mild steel box with electronic circuit board to IP20. Anode case body: copper BS2871 Pt. 1 Table X. Anode support: grilamid L20G natural. Anode material: pure zinc & magnesium BS6561
Construction: The anode assembly is pressed into the copper body and locked into position. The copper anode casing diameter is reduced at the ends and brazed to the end connectors. The unit cannot be opened. The electronics are housed in a boz which surrounds the anode assembly section, is compliant with EU Directive 89/336/EEC (EMC). The unit is powered by 22v 50Hz 500mA power-pack.

The Cracker (tested to 45 bar) is designed to work to a maximum system pressure of 30 bar treating a mains water supply at between 2-40°C, with a maximum system flow rate of 2m/sec (for silent operation) in the nominal pipe size for the product. The water should have a pH range of 5.0-8.5.
