The Air and Water Centre recommends the use of this evaporative humidifier in bedrooms, living rooms or any room up to 50m².
The Boneco 2055D humidifies and washes the air without the use of filters. This makes this unit much cheaper in the long run than other evaporative humidifiers that constantly need replacement filter cartridges.
A fan at the top of the unit sucks air in and on to special humidifier discs inside the humidifier that are rotating in the water. The moisture evaporates into the air and is blown out through the vents on the side of the unit. Dirt and dust particles that are suspended in the air are washed out during the process and are left behind in the unit. The air leaving the unit is therefore clean, fresh and optimally humidified.
A digital display indicates the current humidity and allows you to set the internal humidistat to maintain your desired humidity from 30-70% relative humidity. It can also be set to run continuously. The display will also indicate when the unit needs to be topped-up with water, cleaned and when the ISS anti-bacterial system needs replacing.
Unique to the Boneco 2055D is a pre-ioniser that releases negative ions into the air being sucked into the unit. These ions bond with dust particles, forming clusters, which are attracted to the rotating discs like magnets removing them from the atmosphere.
In order to keep the water pure inside the unit an Ionic Silver Stick releases silver ions into the water. The anti-bacterial qualities of silver effectively kill more than 650 kinds of bacteria and viruses. Replacement ionic silver sticks can be purchased from the Multi-Buy section below.
A special fragrance container sits in the tray - a cotton pad moistened with fragrance can be placed in it so that the room is scented at the same time as being humidified.

Well made and does all it is advertised to do. The humidity created in the air allows us to turn the heating down a little.

So far this has worked great. Its well made, well designed and as far as i can tell made of quality parts. However so it should be considering the price. However i am very happy with this purchase, and it has a nice solid elegant look to it as well. Only downside (sort of), it has two power settings, and while the quiet setting truly is very quiet, the full power setting is quite noisy. However i have found the quiet setting to generally be sufficient and i am using it in a fairly large room.

I love the machine and how it is constructed and how it runs. The only problem I have is that the humidity is such at the moment that it doesn't kick in ... dying to see what happens when it gets dryer!

Great product, though a little expensive. Still, no costly and fiddly filters to worry about. Our last humidifier was a vaporiser type and this filled our house with chalky dust particles. We live in an area with very chalky water and we even got dust inside CD & DVD players all over the house! This humidifier works very well and a quick burst on full power in the evening raises the humidity enough to enable it to run all night on low power to maintain it where we want it (about 55%). Great product, although I am not loowing forward to cleaning it with our chalky water.

Have had this humidifier for about a month and so far no problems with it. It works quietly and efficiently and is fairly easy to clean.

This is easy to use and am generally quite pleased ... We bought it for our bedroom as we had a feeling the humidity was quite low due to under floor heating and we do like a warm house in winter! I was waking up with a dry throat and thought this might be allieviated with a humidifier. Not really sure it made a huge difference to this aspect but the room seems more pleasant - sort of fresher and healthier. Not sure how it will work in summer when we sleep withthe window open... Just to reassure you - on the night mode (quieter setting) it is very quiet and never disturbs our sleep. Cleaned it the other day as it says you should do every 4 weeks but it didn't seem to need it to be honest. A fulltank of water last several days so really very little bother and it is just the cost consideration really. Overall, glad we bought it.

The shopping experience, on line, was excellent. The humidifier is highly efficient and the readings are accurate. It is also very economical to use which is very important as it is likely to be used on a high or low setting for long periods of time. This humidifier uses no more than 20 Watts per hour and it is easy to clean and maintain so over time it will pay for itself. It is expensive but as explained it works well and is cheap to run.

good product / perfectly working
Review by Philippe Lasnier, posted on 27th November 2010.
Efficient as a humidifier, and cleans the air well. Slightly noisy when on full power (the fan moves a lot of air). On "whisper-quiet" mode the humidified air output is less, but it still does a good job. Beware that the positioning of the unit is important to get the best out of it. For instance we have ours in an upstairs room which is opened during the day; as a result, the humidifier is effectively trying to clean and humidifier the warm air that rises up the stairwell, while the cooler, "wet" air that comes out of it naturally "falls" down the stairwell (cool air being heavier than warm air). That makes the humidifier look like it's not changing the humidity level (digital display), but the water is all disappearing from the tank! The tank is very easy to refill, and can be taken out while the machine is still running. Easy to clean. Easy to control. Very few and straightforward moving parts, and solidly constructed, so I feel that it should be trouble-free for a long time. Gurgles happily when water moves regularly from the tank to the base, which can be slightly startling to start with (especially in the dead of night), but I find that kind of soothing, and it's never enough to wake up anyone. The unit is quite bulky, and larger than other types of humidifiers with similar output; that's mainly because of the technology: the 16 spinning disks are large, and together with the fan this takes a lot of space. A bit expensive to buy, but if it lasts 10 years or more, and with the power consumption of a low energy light bulb (20W), then it would have been worth it.

The first humidifier we have had that does what it says on the box, efficiently and without fuss. A lot of money but a great product and good service.

In preparation for our newborn baby, I knew the bedroom become too dry when the heating is put on in the winter. So, to minimise irritation that would disturb the little ones sleep, and thus our sleep, I decided to buy this humidifier because it was so quiet, and energy efficient. The item was well boxed, and with simple instructions that was easy to understand. The machine is well designed, and simple to use. It automatically tests the humidity in the air constantly, which I find interesting when I put it on at night, and see how low it is. Though not a problem to me, during the night occasionally the water in the water tank starts to flow into the base tank, and this can cause a few seconds of water gushing. Not enough to wake the baby. All in all, I am very happy with this product. It was a little expensive, but worth it for all the extra stuff it does.....like kills bacteria in water, turns itself on and off automatically, tells you when it needs cleaning.

We purchased this unit as there's building work going on next door to our office. It has made a difference to the air quality and it is very quiet in running, so pleased all the way around.

With simple and neutral design, the Boneco has improved the air quality at home. Its low setting is quiet and we let it run during the night. The digital display is very helpful and reassuring, once the desired level of humidity is reached, the water tank only needs re-filling once or twice a week. Good purchase.
