It's very easy to use. Plug it in and set the current time by rotating the dial. Then simply push in the pegs opposite your desired "on" times and the plug will activate during those times and deactive afterwards. Each peg represents 15 minutes. If you want to manually over-ride the set time and turn the appliance on, a slide on the side of the unit will leave the unit in a constantly on state.
